JL - It's a long story, so I'll try to start at the beginning... -It may not have escaped you, but I'm of Greek descent, In Greece there's the region of Laconia, Lacedemon (Ancient Greek Λακεδαίμων / Lakedaímôn). Laconia is a historic region of Greece, located in the extreme southeast of the Peloponnese peninsula. Today, Laconia is a regional district on the outskirts of the Peloponnese, with a population of over 95,000, between Messinia and Arcadia, whose capital is Sparta. Many descendants of this region have a first or last name beginning with an L , Lambda in Greek, (capital Λ, small letter λ) This sign is very often used on coats of arms, shields, etc ... I myself have adopted and adapted this tradition in my sporting activities, due to my origin and my name beginning with an L . Λ . -My family came to France because of the Greek-Armenian conflict with Turkey in the 1920s, and today I'm proud to be French and proud of my Greek origins. So through this, I'd like you to understand that my childhood was rich in History and references toHomer 'sIliad, Romance and Greek Mythology. It was an opportunity for me, and I still find it fascinating today! -At the age of 18, in 1998, after obtaining my Black Belt and my Brevet Fédéral, I was given the task of taking over and creating a new A I K I B U D O section. Ⓡ section in Aix en Provence. At that time, there was a lot of competition in traditional martial arts and combat sports, and my name and my club had no weight, reputation or feedback. At that time, Mixed Martial Arts were not fashionable, and Alain Floquet, forerunner and founder ofA I K I B U D O Ⓡ was already an expert in several disciplines, so in the eyes of many people, I had no chance of succeeding in my new quest... -When I was setting up my club, a number of people in the sporting and associative world warned me of the difficulties I was going to encounter in opening it, and metaphorically made me understand that I was going to be an ant, crushed in the face of dinosaurs... But this was without knowing that ants are very talented and master many fields, and have this strong cohesion that binds all the members together. All the ants forming a community interact in good intelligence in the purest respect for the operating conditions of their unit, whose primary aim is to Protect and Serve. ...individualism has no place. And so, at that very moment, the name ant caught my attention and reminded me of the name Myrmidons*...which means "ant" in ancient Greek. -In Greek mythology, Myrmidons are considered powerful soldiers. Their group alone could turn the tide of an important battle when it was alongside other Greek soldiers. We're all familiar with the Trojan legend, especially when Achilles arrives with the Myrmidons, warriors dressed in black helmets, like the sails on their ships. When they reach the coast, they drive the Trojans back to the walls of Troy. -That's why my logo* isn't just a Greek or Spartan warrior's helmet*, it's a myrmidons' helmet, recognizable by its specific shape, color and aesthetics. -That's how I came up with my motivation, my team name and my logo. Since then, I've also focused on my technical level, my pedagogy and my ability to take my projects and my students as far as possible, without giving up, despite difficulties and disappointments. From a personal point of view, I quickly realized that my level of motivation and passion is intimately linked to what I feel through my students and the people I meet on training courses in France and abroad, in all disciplines... That day, I had found my path, my mission on this Earth, to be of service to those around me, with my tools, Martial arts and combat sports. Now The start of the 2023 school year promises to be historic.
